About us
Our mission
To nurture the innate potential of our students and mould them
into passionate, committed, competent, sensitive, value-based individuals
with leadership qualities.
About the school
C.T Vyas and M.T Vyas established the New Era School in 1930 with
progressive educational ideas. The school incorporates scientific
educatational techniques of the West with ideas of social and productive
education of Gandhi and aesthetic and creative activity formulated
by Tagore.
Keeping in tune with the need of the time, the school is now an
English Medium School. It offers Gujarati and Hindi as optional
second languages from Standard I.
To implement the above educational ideas, the
school has organised activities under the following headings:
- Academic
- Co-curricular
- Cultural and creative
- Physical education
- Programmes for social and community understanding
- Computer training
The academic curriculum is enriched with field
trips, visits to institutions, talks by experts and other activities
like debates, recitation of poems, quiz competitions and library
work. Activities like indoor and outdoor games, hiking and trekking,
karate, cooking and computer programming are offered to the students.
Training in craft, art, music and dance is also provided.
School assemblies are conducted on a regular basis.
They start with a non-denominational prayer followed by devotional
songs and music. There are talks on topics of general interest,
news reading and reading of extracts from the writings of eminent
personalities. We have esteemed guest speakers from different walks
of life coming to these assemblies on a regular basis. Individual
classes present cultural items in the assemblies. These assemblies
provide a platform for creative self expression and an opportunity
for children to exhibit their unique talents.
Our school has a large Interact club. Members
participate enthusiastically in social service projects, which enable
them to grow up as sensitive and socially aware citizens.
The P. T. A. of The New Era School is a co-operative
body that plans and implements programmes for the common goal of
the all round development of the child. This also includes educational
and social programmes for parents, teachers and children.
International collaborations
The students of our school were invited to participate in an international
cultural festival in China where they have performed various folk
dances of India.
Every year a team of students is invited
to The Seeds of Peace project organised by the American Centre in
Boston, U. S. A. Children of neighbouring and conflicting nations
stay together and understand each other's cultures.
